Generation Y, Millennials, for the 3rd year in a row have compromised the largest group of homebuyers. They make up over 35% of all buyers, according to the March report by the national Association of Realtors.

If you plan on selling your home and want to appeal to this group of buyers. Millennials have certain needs and if they can’t find them, they will move onto the next home.

If you want your home to sell faster and for more money, you may want to consider some of these things Generation Y need in a home.

  1. They want a separate laundry room.

According to a survey by the National Association of Realtors, a separate laundry room topped their list.  Think about converting a smaller room into a laundry room.  Consumer Reports, found that manufacturers are making washer and dryer sets with a matching fit and finish that can integrate into living space—so you could consider having the laundry machines on the second floor. You don’t have to pay out thousands of dollars to make your home efficient. Try improving your insulation in the attic, insulating your ductwork or even caulking around windows and doors can help a lot.

More than two-thirds of millennials want smart home technology. Keep in mind that technology soon can become outdated so find cool ways to attract this group.

Consumer reports recommends getting a new thermostat that is controlled from your smart phone or computer.  You can find models for around $250-300.

Considering buying a hands free speaker system with a Siri Like Virtual assistant. You can play Music, make dinner reservations, and get weather reports all without leaving your chair!

Have you ever seen touchless light switches? Very sleek design. Just wave your hand over the switch and it turns off or on. Buy a couple sets and place them in prominent places like the Master bath, Kitchen or Entry Way.
